UDI-Africa 1st International Conference – Angola 2018

The Conference wraps up the first year of the project, creating an opportunity to discuss the achieved results and to plan the future of UDI-Africa. This is an important moment to strengthen the relations between all the partners of the Consortium and in particular to introduce CHAMPIONS and JUNIORS from the 4 African Universities.
This event aimed to guide and empower young faculty and staff assigned to the Project UDI-Africa (the CHAMPIONS) for the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge; here, there is also a space for dialogue and cooperation not only between Portuguese-speaking universities, but also with institutions of other languages, cultures and different university management models, thus offering each participating institution the opportunity to diversify and deepen their partnerships.
The scientific part of the Conference included presentations that comprise the unfolding of the four areas of knowledge underlying the training and performance programs of the Champions, namely:
(1) Economy, Management and Sustainability;
(2) Inclusive Societies, Social Values, Culture and Intercultural Communication;
(3) Construction, Environment and Infrastructure and
(4) Health and Well-Being.
The First International Conference of the UDI-Africa Project had 187 participants, of which 61 were foreigners, coming from Portugal, England, Holland, Belgium, Brazil, USA, Guinea Bissau and Mozambique. There were 126 nationals in total, including members of the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology, Members of the UAN Board of Directors, representatives of Katyavala Bwila University, Champions of Katyavala Buila University, Champions of Agostinho Neto University and UAN support staff.
